Runway Teams Up with Getty Images for Enterprise AI Tools

Runway is collaborating with Getty Images to introduce a new video model explicitly designed for enterprise customers, catering to the growing demand for high-quality, customized video content. This partnership combines Runway's AI technology with Getty Images' extensive, fully licensed creative content library.

The Runway <> Getty Images Model (RGM) will serve as a foundation for companies to develop customized video content, allowing fine-tuning with proprietary datasets. This will enable various industries—including Hollywood studios, advertising agencies, media, and broadcasting companies—to augment their creative processes. This collaboration facilitates the creation of new content workflows and helps in crafting experiences that resonate with the specific styles, brand identities, and audiences of these enterprises.

Runway CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela and Getty Images' Chief Product Officer Grant Farhall express excitement about this collaboration. Valenzuela emphasizes the enhancement of creative control and customization this partnership brings, foreseeing new commercial applications and video products. Farhall highlights the combination of human talent and advanced technology, pointing to the vast potential this holds for creative video production.

This initiative represents a significant step in utilizing AI and video generation technologies, making it easier for enterprises to create professional, engaging, and brand-consistent content.

Meta and IBM partner to promote Open Source AI

The recently formed AI Alliance, spearheaded by Meta Platforms and IBM, marks a significant shift in the AI landscape. This coalition, comprising over 50 entities, including tech giants like Intel and Oracle, prestigious academic institutions such as Cornell University, and pivotal organizations like the National Science Foundation, is championing an open-source AI model. This initiative stands in contrast to the proprietary-closed AI systems that have been prevalent, notably OpenAI's ChatGPT.

The alliance aims to foster a diverse and inclusive AI ecosystem, moving away from the dominance of closed AI models. Companies such as AMD and ServiceNow are key participants, seeing this as an opportunity to enhance their presence in the AI market, which OpenAI and Microsoft have largely overshadowed. This move comes when global spending on generative AI solutions surges, with businesses increasingly seeking multiple AI vendors to avoid dependency on a single provider.

The focus of the AI Alliance is broad, encompassing areas like regulation, safety, and the integration of AI hardware and software to facilitate the adoption of AI across various industries. This initiative responds to the need for a more resilient and accessible AI technology landscape, emphasizing collaboration and open-source development.

Why this matters: The formation of the AI Alliance is a pivotal moment, signalling a collective shift towards more open, diverse, and collaborative AI technologies in a market that a few key players have dominated.
